I bought a Medium as I normally wear small in all my leggings. However, these do not stretch like leggings, they are more stiff and the calf section is cut very narrow. I'm a size 6 and have more of an hourglass figure, so to fit right, I had to exchange them for a Large. Overall, I love the style, it's just the material is on the stiff side. One other thing, if you have a butt, like I do, you will definitely need a larger size. This is cut for girls with no butts.
